An additional source of folic acid and iodine, especially for women, who are planning pregnancy, already pregnant or breastfeeding.
L-methylfolate – 208.0 µg (equivalent to folic acid 200 µg), folic acid – 200 µg, potassium iodide – 262.0 µg (equivalent to iodine 200 µg), excipients.
L-methylfolate is the most biologically active form of folic acid, which can cross blood-brain barrier. It is a dominating micronutrient form of folate, circulating in blood plasma and participating in biological processes. It is necessary to support healthy cardiovascular and nervous systems and for correct cell division.
Folic acid is especially necessary at the earliest stage of the dawning life, as well as during growth and development of a human fetus. It participates in hematopoiesis, provides for protein metabolism, RNA and DNA synthesis, what is of especial importance for growing tissues. Folic acid deficiency leads to accumulation of homocysteine in blood plasma, which is an indicator of atherosclerotic changes. Absence of folic acid deficiency during pregnancy reduces accidents of congenital malformations (including neural tube defect, Spina bifida), hypotrophy and premature birth significantly.
Iodine is necessary for healthy brain development in children during intrauterine development and in early age. The need of iodine in women is increased significantly during pregnancy due to necessity to provide the fetus with the required amount of iodine. Iodine deficiency can cause metabolic disturbances both in mother and in the child, mental and physical retardation of the child.
The need of folic acid and iodine is increased significantly during pregnancy and breastfeeding and cannot be compensated by healthy and varied diet alone.
Additional intake of folic acid and iodine allows reducing the risk of neural tube defect, physical and mental development disorders significantly. This is why gynaecologists, endocrinologists and other medical specialists recommend all women of reproductive age, pregnant and breastfeeding women to take 400 µg folic acid and 200 µg iodine daily (a dose corresponding to 1 tablet EMBRyA® Fol).
Take 1 tablet during breakfast at least 4 weeks before planned conception. Term of use of EMBRyA® Fol – minimum 12 weeks before conceiving.
If You have taken contraceptives and are planning pregnancy now, You should start taking EMBRyA® Fol as soon as You finish taking contraceptives.
