Althea root stimulates respiratory and cough centres, what leads to intensification of bronchioles peristalsis, intensification of ciliated epithelium activity, thus providing for expectorative effect. In addition, intake of althea root helps intensifying function of ciliated epithelium of the bronchial glands, thinning sputum, reducing its viscosity and increasing its volume.
Licorice irritates mucosa thus intensifying secretion of the glandular apparatus. The effect of licorice is conditioned by the presence of saponins in raw material, which have expectorative, softening and enveloping effects.
In case of internal use primrose flowers intensify bronchial glands secretion. They are used for respiratory organs diseases, pneumonia, hypovitaminoses etc.
Pine cones stimulate secretory activity of the upper airways mucosa, they have expectorative effect, bactericidal effect on pathogenic microflora in the oropharynx and oral cavity, they have light diuretic and diaphoretic properties.
Thyme has expectorative, antibacterial, spasmolytic and pain-relieving effects; it has calming effect on the central nervous system, stimulates gastric juice secretion.
Elecampane grass is indicated for cough as an expectorant. Due to a composition of inulin, mucus, essential oil and other biologically active substances elecampane promotes better sputum discharge in case of bronchitis, tracheitis and other upper respiratory tract diseases, accompanied by cough.
Coltsfoot due to its active composition helps thinning and discharging thick secretion from the airways, fights with inflammation, and thanks to its enveloping effect it is able to soften cough and protect inflamed mucosa of the larynx. It is used for bronchitis, laryngitis, tracheitis and other respiratory diseases.
Plantain leaves are indicated for cough at the background of various respiratory diseases. Due to its multi-agent composition, including mucus, bitter compounds and tannins, carotene, ascorbic acid plantain intensifies secretion of the bronchial glands, thins and discharges sputum, fights inflammation of the airways.
