Artichoke intensifies bile secretion, which in its turn is necessary for digestion and uptake of fats and fat-soluble substances, as well as improvement of intestinal motility. Due to choleretic effect artichoke is used to prevent numerous diseases of the gallbladder and the liver, in particular artichoke is used for prevention of cholecystitis (gallbladder inflammation). Its fruit contain protein, vitamins, cynarin and other biologically active substances with cholesterol reducing, choleretic and diuretic effects, regulate thyroid function and stimulate lipid metabolism in the blood.
Adults take 1-3 teaspoons (or measuring spoons) 30 minutes before meals; children in the age over 12 take 1 teaspoon twice a day 30 minutes before meals. Term of use – 25 days.
