Each 250 g pill contains: folic acid – 400 µg, excipients.
Folic acid or vitamin B9 plays a significant part in functioning of the body; it is primarily necessary for normal development of all organs and tissues, normal development of fetus, hematopoietic and immune systems, regulation of metabolic processes, including DNA and some amino acids synthesis. This vitamin is not synthesized in the body, it is received with food.
Low vitamin B9 can have destructive effect on development and existence of human body.
Folic acid deficiency at the stage of pregnancy planning and in the early stages of pregnancy can lead to hematopoiesis impairment in women, reduction in body resistance to infections, increase in probability of clots formation, reduction in tolerance to physical and mental loads. Folic acid deficiency in fetus may result in folate-deficiency anemia and central nervous system malformations, including fetal neural tube defect. In addition, cardiovascular malformations, cleft lip and palatoschisis (hare lip and cleft palate) formation is possible. Insufficient intake of this vitamin results in malformation of placenta, increase of probability of miscarriage or pregnancy loss, partial placental abruption, fetal growth restriction.
In order to prevent fetal central nervous system malformation daily consumption of 400 µg (0.4 mg) of folic acid before the planned pregnancy or in the early stages of pregnancy (up to 12 weeks) is recommended.
